Pleb Urban Winery

This project transformed an abandoned 10,000 SF warehouse in Asheville’s River Arts District into a fully operational urban winery and tasting room, introducing a new type of production space to the area. The design integrates fermentation, production, and public-facing functions, creating a unique facility that supports both operations and guest experience. Located within the floodplain, the project required careful coordination with permitting authorities and specialized solutions to meet regulatory requirements. Elevated exterior platforms were constructed to relocate electrical systems above base flood elevation; while plumbing and electrical infrastructure were upgraded to support increased production loads, new RTUs, and higher occupancy demands. A new membrane roof and an IPE deck further enhance durability and outdoor guest engagement. Extensive site work was completed to improve drainage and raise elevations, with landscaping designed to align with the adjacent greenway, connecting the facility to the broader River Arts District.
